The 20 Best Albums of 2008: Or the 20 albums (released this year) I let become a major part of my life

The music bloggers have already begun posting their best of 2008 lists, so I felt like I better follow suit.

These albums were all a major part of my year in some way. At one point in the year I listened Devotion almost non- stop. I slept to that album (read: cried myself to sleep). I described not listening to Beach House’s Devotion like feeling like I couldn’t breath.

The top 5 of my list all have a similar emotional connection to my year that was. Incidentally I would say that around the bottom 5 of my list are albums that I got closer to based on some one I was emotionally connected to. As for everything in between, it is all good. I wonder if other music bloggers make their lists so emotionally? Probably not.

I will make a note that by the second track on Mount Eerie With Julie Doiron And Fred Squire, “Lost Wisdom”, I was sobbing. It is an incredibly sad and beautiful album.

I think maybe I just had an incredibly sad year. Here is to making 2009 a beautiful one.

#19 isn’t the correct album title.

Thanks mom.

Not the biggest mistake I’ve made. Last years list for 2007 included an album from 2006.
