No More Sorrow in Sight is about a cruel connection with another individual, though sincere the attempt may be it is painful, narcissistic, and mean spirited, like many romantic relationships. A lone mirror hangs on a wall at eye level. The mirror is square and reflects the size of a single face perfectly. When the viewer enters the space facing the mirror a motion sensor is tripped, which triggers a bright light that is hidden and aimed at the mirror to turn on and shine a bright light into their eyes. The piece makes me think of the lyrics to Sonic Youths The Diamond Sea, a song reflecting on the narcissistic nature of love and romance. The lyrics in The Diamond Sea suggest that when the surface tension in a relationship is broken, once you let someone in, you will never be the same, there is too much opportunity for pain, and that causes people to change. I also really relate to the ideas in the lyrics of falling in love with yourself all over again in a new relationship, because through the other you see a sense of worth reflected, or maybe you will only see your vanity.
